WESTMINSTER, MD – MAGIC is thrilled to announce the success of its 16th Capture The Flag (CTF) competition, which took place this past Saturday, April 20, 2024, at Carroll Community College. The event drew participants from the Dominican Republic, Maryland, Massachusetts, Northern Ireland, Pennsylvania and Wyoming, all together representing over 20 different schools and organizations, and showcasing the growing interest and importance of cybersecurity skills among students and professionals.
With 21,145 total available points, 122 participants, and 34 teams, the competition was fierce, yet friendly. “The purpose of our CTF is to make cybersecurity education more accessible and fun, but it’s also a competition that rewards persistence” said Graham Dodge, Executive Director of MAGIC. “That persistence has paid off for our host partners in the Dominican Republic whose students took first prize after competing for the past few years.”
MAGIC extends its heartfelt thanks to Carroll Community College for co-sponsoring and hosting the event, all the participants – near and far, and to Penacity, LLC and the Rural Maryland Council whose support made it all possible.
Plans are already underway for the 17th Capture The Flag, with details to be announced in the coming months. Stay up to date by subscribing to MAGIC’s newsletter at https://lp.constantcontactpages.com/su/Ds4KnA6/newsletter. To get involved in future events, visit magicinc.org.
