Spire Girls is a leadership program for young women interested in pursuing a career in STEM. Through this program, we wish to make students aware of the opportunities available to them, the resources at their disposal, and the supportive community that we have right here in Carroll County.
Through our speaker series and field trips, we will highlight the versatility of STEM education in fields beyond those that immediately come to mind when you think of STEM, as well as the job opportunities available to those with non-STEM degrees. Students will be introduced to female leaders in these positions and have a chance to experience firsthand the workplace environment of women in STEM.
MAGIC’s Spire Girls program is best suited for young women in high school, but 8th-grade students with a strong interest in STEM are also welcome to join. It’s not a club – students are free to attend as many or as few events as they’d like. Our goal is to provide a speaker event and outing every other month throughout the school year.
