Launches ‘1MC Westminster’
WESTMINSTER, MD – September 8th, 2020 – 1 Million Cups (1MC), the community-driven weekly entrepreneur support system created by The Kauffman Foundation, is launching in the City of Westminster thanks to efforts by its community members. It will be among 170 other 1MC communities throughout the United States and the only 1MC community in the State of Maryland. The first 1MC Westminster event will launch virtually on Wednesday, October 28th, 2020.
“1 Million Cups provides a template for community engagement with entrepreneurs that we believe will be a keystone for our startup ecosystem here in Westminster,” says Graham Dodge, Executive Director of the Mid-Atlantic Gigabit Innovation Collaboratory (MAGIC). “We’ll launch virtually, but once conditions have improved, and our State’s guidance allows, we will be face to face.”
Dodge is one of 7 organizing members (and growing) who are shouldering the effort together, including Val Giovagnoni of Ting Internet, Jonathan Weetman of The Entrepreneur Store, Julius Knapp of Dirigible Systems, local software developer Russ Hammett, Mick Mancuso of Iron Crow Productions, and Andrew Rose of MidAtlantic Farm Credit.
“This is like a community garden for entrepreneurship that we all can cultivate.” says Giovagnoni. “And our hope is that the values of The Kauffman Foundation will take root and continue to grow.”
Entrepreneurs and Westminster community members can follow the calendar of events and apply to present at 1MC Westminster here: https://www.1millioncups.com/westminster
About 1 Million Cups:
1MC is based on the notion that great ideas are discussed over a million cups of coffee. 1MC is not a pitch platform, nor is it a networking event. It’s simply a chance for 1-2 presenting entrepreneurs to tap into the knowledge and experience of the local community in a focused and encouraging environment. 1MC takes place every Wednesday morning in 170 communities throughout the United States.
