We have some big news: in recognition of our efforts to develop an autonomous corridor in Westminster, Maryland, MAGIC has been invited to be part of the Maryland Connected and Automated Vehicle (CAV) Working Group. Our participation is one of the many ways we are paving the way for new technologies and innovation in Maryland, Carroll County, and the City of Westminster. Keep reading to learn more about CAV, and how MAGIC is participating in the effort.
What is CAV?
MDOT and other partners are working together to ensure safer roads as the state moves towards the future of transportation. One of the ways they are ensuring safer roads is by launching Maryland’s CAV initiative. Connected and Automated Vehicles (CAV) is an initiative to uphold and enhance a safe, efficient, and equitable transportation future. The group collaborates with local partners who are interested in researching, testing, and implementing CAVs in Maryland.
MAGIC’s Role in CAV
As part of CAV, MAGIC will take part in developing and modifying the CAV permit process, as well as help coordinate policy and planning. We will be:
- Evaluating the latest research
- Tracking federal and state laws, policies, and programs
- Coordinating with other organizations to set the course for the future of automated and connected vehicles in Maryland
Our role in CAV is to assist with researching, testing, and supporting CAV technologies and ensure safety for every driver as we head towards the future of autonomous vehicles. We are very proud to be part of this group as we work more closely with MDOT and their constituents in developing our own autonomous corridor.
