MAGIC Hackathon

Throughout the week-long event, teams work together to create an application. It’s a beginner-level event that serves as an opportunity to learn more about app development and a chance to enhance your skill sets.
Carroll Biz Challenge
The Carroll County Chamber of Commerce hosts an annual business challenge event. It’s a chance for local entrepreneurs to pitch their business ideas, make valuable connections, get publicity, and earn prizes. Five participants are chosen to pitch their ideas to a panel of judges and a live audience. The first place winner earns a grand prize of $5,000. This challenge is open to anyone living in Carroll County, including McDaniel College students.
1 Million Cups
1 Million Cups is a free national program for entrepreneurs to present and gain feedback from the community. As a program of the Kauffman Foundation, it’s designed to educate, engage and inspire entrepreneurs. In Westminster, MD, organizers come together to put together this weekly event. Entrepreneurs can apply to be a presenter at any time, and it’s available for anyone living in Carroll County.
McDaniel’s Entrepreneurship Competition
McDaniel’s annual Entrepreneurship Competition, formerly known as Innovation Challenge, allows students to get paid for their ideas. McDaniel students form teams to create and pitch ideas for an innovative solution to a real-world problem. After working on their project throughout the semester with the guidance of the college’s Entrepreneur-in-Residence, they then pitch their idea to a panel of real-life entrepreneurs. The first-place winner receives a check for $10,000 to jump-start their business.
