An Introduction to Safety in the Digital Age
Join MAGIC this summer for an introduction to online safety! Our series of free workshops will introduce concepts such as:
- Login and password security
- Identifying scams and phishing
- How to secure your device
- How to safely browse the internet
- Social media best practices
… and more!
Workshops will be held at Carroll Community College in room K129.
We offer informational sessions on two topics: Online Security and Internet Safety.
Online Security
This workshop is an introduction to online security.
Email Safety – Setting up and using email on your devices, setting strong passwords, 2 Factor Authentication, and proper logout procedures.
Scams and Phishing – How to identify scams on your device, what not to click on, and what to do if you fall victim to a scam.
Setting Up Devices – How to optimize your phone and tablet security settings.
This workshop will be held twice throughout the summer: on Tuesday, May 24th from 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. and on Tuesday, July 26th from 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.

Internet Safety
This workshop is an introduction to internet safety.
Browsing – The different popular browsers, such as Chrome and Safari, and their security settings; how to recognize if a website is secure.
Best Password Practices – How to create a secure password and how to safely store/access them.
Social Media – An introduction to popular social media websites, how to safely set up your account, what not to post online.
This workshop will be held twice throughout the summer: on Tuesday, June 28th from 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. and on Tuesday, August 23rd from 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.
