MAGIC IS AWARDED TRUIST FOUNDATION GRANT

The Mid-Atlantic Gigabit Innovation Collaboratory (MAGIC) is pleased to announce that they are recipients of a John J. Leidy Foundation grant to support MAGIC’s educational programs in Westminster, Maryland.

Funding provided by the John J. Leidy Foundation will allow MAGIC to continue developing programs to be offered in the Autonomous Robotics Innovation Center (ARIC) this upcoming Fall 2023 semester.

“Data science is the most in-demand career across a wide spectrum of industries,” says Graham Dodge, Executive Director of MAGIC. “This program will not only expose students to the fundamentals of data science but will upskill those adults looking for a career change.”

The goal of MAGIC’s Big Data Bootcamp is to introduce adult students to Python, basic data science, and machine learning techniques that will provide them with a foundational understanding of data science and prepare them for further learning.

“At a time when there’s high demand for strong talent pipelines in our community, MAGIC is preparing individuals for thriving-wage jobs and highlighting the opportunities available to them,” said Greg Farno, regional president for Truist’s Maryland Region. “We’re proud to lend our support to programs like this that provide inclusive access to meaningful career paths and advance economic mobility. It’s how we fulfill Truist’s purpose to inspire and build better lives and communities.”

Big Data Bootcamp begins in October and is available to anyone over the age of 16 with an internet connection. Check out the full schedule and find more information at https://magicinc.org/events/bdb.
