Using Augmented Reality to Discover Local History

MAGIC will be partnering with Carroll County Public Library and Union Mills Homestead at the 2019 Celebrating America History Expo at National History Day to showcase our MainStAR Augmented Reality project.

The Main Street AR (MStAR) history project is bringing the history of Westminster to life using AR and VR technologies. Our pilot project is rebuilding St. John Church, which was demolished in the 1960’s after being damaged in a tornado.  The current Westminster Public Library sits on the site. Residents and tourists will be able to stand in front of the library, and using an AR app on their smart phone, be a able to look at the old church in great detail. Watch history take shape around you.

When: Saturday, March 2, 2019 (snow date – March 9, 2019)

Where: Winters Mill High School
